I’ve been doing a lot of freezing things lately. Usually, you’ll find me freezing things like leftovers that I know I’m not going to eat the next day. That way, I’ll have those leftovers for a lazy day when I don’t feel like cooking a full meal. Also, since I’m as frugal as possible, I’ll also buy items in bulk to save cash and just freeze certain things. If you don’t want to end up throwing food away, which is like throwing money away, you need to know what you can freeze. That’s what this topic is all about! I’m going to give you a list of items you can actually freeze and save for later.
#1. Cheese
Most people don’t know it, but you can freeze cheese for later in the freezer. Set it out, let it thaw out completely and then you can free the entire block of cheese without it becoming crumbly.
#2. Pancakes
Did you make too many pancakes for breakfast? That happens a lot at my house. All you have to do is put them in a freezer bag and save them for breakfast another day.
#3. Waffles
Just like pancakes, you can put waffles in a freezer back and eat them another day. Homemade waffles can be reheated in the microwave, toaster or a toaster oven. Either way, there’s no denying that these homemade waffles are better and much cheaper than the frozen ones you’ll find at the store.
#4. French Toast
A lot of people don’t know that they can store French toast in the freezer, as well.
#5. Rice
A lot of people don’t think about freezing rice, but you can! Simply lay it out on some parchment paper and freeze it. Once it’s frozen, you can put it in a freezer bag and store it in your freezer. This is especially a handy trick when it comes to brown rice, because of how long you have to prepare brown rice.
#6. Pasta
Pasta is one of those things you’re always going to have as leftovers and pasta is still good when it’s reheated. However, you may have to add a little extra sauce, because reheated pasta can be a bit on the dry side.
#7. Mashed Potatoes
This is another side that’s easy to make too much of. Simply store some in the freezer for as long as two months.
#8. Chili
Chili is something that we always have some leftovers of. Toss it in a Tupperware container and put it in the freezer.
#9. Soup
Just like chili, soup is really easy to make too much of. Just put some in a Tupperware container and put it in the freezer and thaw it out when you’re ready to enjoy it again.
#10. Sandwiches
The mornings can be a hard time for a mom, because you’re making all those sandwiches for everyone and packing all of those lunches. It’s much easier to just make sandwiches in advance and then pull them out of the freezer and toss them into a lunchbox whenever it’s time to prep lunches for everyone.
