Last week, at the very end of May there was a frost overnight here in Wisconsin. Since it had been warm during the day and I am not one to check the weather for the night, I didn’t find out about it until the next day. When I checked my garden most plants were OK. The basil did take a beating but is doing well now. However, two of the bell pepper plants didn’t make it.
It wasn’t until yesterday that I was able to go to the garden store and pick up two replacement plants. This is not the same place where I got the other plants and the plants were more expensive than the other place. Here I paid $1.85 for each plant instead of both. This was a quick stop at the store with my husband and kids waiting for me in the car. I had one plant in each hand and when I got in the car I put one of them on the roof to open do door.
Do you see where this is going? When I went to get the plants from the car to plant, one was nowhere to be found. Yes, I left it on the car roof and it flew away as we drove home. So that was the flop of the day yesterday: $1.85 on a plant that bit the dust two minutes after I paid for it.
