Being a stay at home mom I actually spend a lot of my day on Pinterest. As a matter of fact, I don’t know any frugal and/or stay at home mom that isn’t absolutely in love with Pinterest. Today, what I’m going to tell you, however, is going to surprise you. Granted, there’s a ton of tips and advice on Pinterest on how to save money, cheap recipes and do it yourself projects, but I actually get more value out of YouTube when it comes to saving money and staying on a budget. Now, I know a lot of people think that YouTube is just a place to go for people to post up funny videos of their animals, but it’s totally not. YouTube is the largest video sharing website in the world and there’s a ton of knowledge to be found on YouTube.

#1. I Cancelled My Gym Membership for YouTube
Now, this sounds crazy, but I cancelled my gym membership, because it just didn’t work with my schedule. Being a stay at home mom is a very busy lifestyle and I just couldn’t make time to drive to the gym, get my workout in and then come back home. That just wasn’t going to happen for me.
Therefore, I cancelled my gym membership and went to YouTube. I found a ton of fitness videos on YouTube and I made myself a playlist of excellent yoga and pilates videos. I found videos that perfectly fit my schedule and they’re all free to watch. There are so many fitness related videos on YouTube that you certainly won’t have any problems finding videos that will help you reach your goals.
#2. I Use YouTube as My Teacher
Sure, it’s no problem for me to go out and take classes to learn how to do something. I could even buy a ton of books and read them if I wanted to, but why should I do that; when I have YouTube at my disposal? I can watch someone on YouTube do what I need to learn how to do and usually, they’ll teach you how to do it on your own. I wanted to learn how to become a better photographer, so I could take some pictures of my kids, but learning a DSLR camera can be very difficult, but not when you use YouTube.
#3. I Use YouTube to Do Home Repairs
This is where YouTube has saved me an absolutely ton of money. When something goes wrong in the house I find out how to fix the problem on YouTube. For instance, one time our air conditioning unit stopped working. I pulled up a video on YouTube for my husband and he learned how to fix the air conditioning himself. This is something that would have costs us thousands of dollars if we had to hire a professional to come in and fix the issue.
