Living the life of a frugal person, you have to be extremely resourceful and know what everything in your home is capable of. I love doing articles like this one, because a lot of you don’t know how much use you can get out of the items you already have in your house. For instance, a while back I did a huge series on the many different uses for baking soda and it seemed to help a lot of you out. I’ve also did an article on the many uses for vinegar which seemed to help a lot of you, as well. If you haven’t read those articles, I highly suggest you go back and read them, as you’ll probably be amazed at the things you can accomplish with those items.
Today, I’m going to talk about the many uses for petroleum jelly that you probably never knew about. So, let’s get started. If you have any tips of your own, you should leave them below in the comments section.
#1. Petroleum Jelly Makes for Excellent Gloves
Do you have some painting that you need to do around the house, but you absolutely hate it when you get paint all over your hands? Well, you’re not alone and you can prevent your hands from getting messy with petroleum jelly. Simply spread some on your hands and you will basically have an invisible glove. If you’re painting the ceiling, you could put some petroleum jelly on your face, as well.
#2. Easy Light Bulb Removal
Don’t you hate it when you go to unscrew a light bulb and it breaks off at the base? Well, you’re not alone, because I hate this feeling, as well. Simply coat the base of the bulb with petroleum jelly before you screw it in and you won’t have any problems getting it out when it’s time to change the bulb.
#3. Keep the Chrome on Your Vehicle Clean
Hey, we all want to keep our vehicles looking great. Coat the chrome on your vehicle with petroleum jelly before you put your vehicle in the garage for the winter.
#4. Make a Birthday Candle Last for Hours
If the power went out, you could get a mason jar, fill it with petroleum jelly, insert a birthday candle into the jar and you’ll have a candle that will burn for hours. This way, you’ll have light and you won’t have to burn one of your more expensive candles that you’ve used for decoration.
#5. Remove Nuts and Bolts Easier
Are you having some problems trying to get some nuts and bolts off of something? Coat them with petroleum jelly and they’ll come off much easier.
#6. Fight Wrinkles With Petroleum Jelly
I know a lot of women that coat the bags under their eyes with petroleum jelly and it works as sort of a moisture barrier and will make wrinkles dissipate.
#7. Get Softer Feet
Do you have some rough feet? If so, before you go to bed, rub some petroleum jelly on your feet, put a pair of socks on and go to bed. By morning, your feet will be incredible smooth.
