You probably don’t know this about me but I was born and raised in a third world country. Honduras is a country where more than a third of its people have less than $2 to live everyday. I grew up with poverty staring me in the face every time I saw a six year old selling the newspaper on a street intersection, or the woman who roamed the streets selling tortillas to get enough money to feed her own family. These were the lucky people too, the ones who had moved to the big city to improve their standard of living. In rural areas the only hope is having a plot of land to grow your own food.
Today is Blog Action Day. Bloggers everywhere hope to raise attention to the issue by blogging about it. I have pledged any income I make today from ads and affiliate links to Project Peanut Butter, a therapeutic feeding program for malnourished children in Malawi and Sierra Leone. The other 11Moms have also pledged their blog income to this cause and Walmart has agreed to match all of our donations.
