If you don’t want to read about the game, go ahead and skip to the good stuff!
The Disney Infinity game has been named one of the hottest toys for this holiday season. Starter packs can be purchased for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo Wii, and Nintendo 3DS. You’ll need to purchase an Infinity Starter pack first. These starter packs come with 3 figures – Sulley from Monsters University, Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean, and Mr. Incredible from The Incredibles) – the Infinity game and base, a Play Set piece that corresponds with the three included figures, an Infinity Power Disc, and web codes to use in the PC and mobile versions of the game.
Figures are placed on certain spots on the base to play, and each figure saves its own information. The different figures are also interchangeable on different game consoles. Like, for instance, you can use the same figure for both your Xbox 360 and a friend’s Wii. I’ll be honest with you here, and say that I don’t fully understand the game yet or how it works, but you can check out the official Disney Infinity website for more info.
Now – on to the money saving stuff! That I understand.
Unfortunately, the starter packs are very expensive, with price tags typically no lower than $70. So, I’ve been scouring Black Friday ad scans to see who has the best deal on the Disney Infinity Starter Pack. I’ve narrowed it down to two different stores – Walmart and Toys ‘R’ Us.
- Walmart has the Disney Infinity Starter Pack and the Skylanders Starter Pack for only $38.96 each. The sale starts at 6pm on Thursday, and it doesn’t look like there’s a limit on the number of starter packs you can purchase. However, these don’t have the 1-hour in-stock guarantee that some other Walmart Black Friday items do.
- Toys ‘R’ Us has the Disney Infinity Starter Pack and the Skylanders Starter Pack for $37.49 each. The sale starts at 5pm on Thursday, and there’s a limit of two of each starter packs pr guest. However, they also have a Buy One Get One Free deal on extra Skylanders figures, and you can get a $10 gift card toward future purchase when you spend $75 that day.
So, who has the best deal? It depends really. While it looks like Toys ‘R’ Us does at first glance, that may not necessarily be true for anyone who wants to buy more than two starter packs. Keep in mind though, that the Walmart deal starts an hour later than the Toys ‘R’ Us deal, so if Toys ‘R’ Us runs out, you can always scoot over to Walmart, or give your Black Friday wingman a heads up.
