One of my favorite parts of using coupons is being able to not only get free or cheap stuff, but also be able to help others for very little. By using coupons, I have been able to stretch any charitable funds I have and buy much more than I could have otherwise afforded. I usually pick up free or nearly free deals on non-perishable food items at my local stores and drop them off at the local food bank.
This week there are a couple of donation drives going on that I wanted to bring to your attention:
- First, May 14th is National Stamp Out Hunger. This is as easy as donating gets. On May 14th, postal workers will be collections your donations of non-perishable food items from your own home. Just place your donation in a bag and place it by your mailbox.
- Join Couponing for Community on Facebook and help us “collect” 10,000 items for donation this week.
This is a GREAT time to assess your stockpile and see if you have any items that you may not be able to consumer before they expire (1,000 bottles of mustard anyone? j/k). After you are done going through your stockpile, visit the Couponing for Community Page and enter the number of items you will be able to donate. On Saturday May 14th, put those items in a bag and leave by your mailbox to have them picked up by your local mail carrier and you are done! How easy was that?
I have taken advantage of this great opportunity to give back every year for the last few years. I hope you can join us too!
