Get ONE free cosmetic, skin care item or perfume from makers such as Chanel and Estee Lauder tomorrow at participating retailers. As part of a lawsuit settlement, participating retailers will be giving away $175 Million in free products. The lawsuit, filed in 2003, alleges stores tried to limit sales and scale back on the amount of cosmetics in their inventory, thereby keeping both prices and competition high.
Participating stores include: Bergdorf Goodman, Bergner’s, Bloomingdale’s, Boston Store, Carson Pirie Scott, Dillard’s, Gottschalks, Herberger’s, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Parisian, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Younkers. The products include mascara, skin care, moisturizers and fragrances. The brands include Estée Lauder, Clinique, Lancome, Clarins, Guerlain, Givenchy, Chanel, Boucheron, Cody, Calvin Klein, L’Oréal and Christian Dior.
So, what do you need to do? hit your local retailer and ask for your free product at their counter. According to this press release the products don’t come from store’s inventory but it seems they were created for this giveaway. I wonder if that means they are sample sizes? Take a copy of any of these press releases as a back up. It’s on a first serve, first come basis while supplies last.
