This is our garden: 16’x16′. We are thinking of adding another 8 feet to one side to grow more stuff and help with grocery budget this summer. I am already thinking of planting potatoes this summer and that’s something that we can store in the basement. The added area would help on that.
Last year I planted eggplants, zucchini, cantaloupe melon, cucumber, tomatoes, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, peppers, green beans. this year I am cutting back on the number of zucchini and eggplants. But I want to plant more broccoli. My husband says I should try planting corn but for the area it needs, I don’t think it makes sense.
I loved my garden last year. Being the control freak that I am I drew a garden map with the detailed areas where everything would be planted. I am doing the same this year. I think that contributed to the success. I will document my gardening endeavor this year on this blog.
Should we make it bigger? Is anybody else thinking of increasing their garden size, or maybe starting a garden to help with grocery prices this year?
