*UPDATE* Only the Sabra Classic Hummus is supposed to be possibly affected in this recall, but according to the Sabra Facebook page, people have been getting sick when eating other varieties and flavors as well as hummus with different use by dates.
Heads up if you’ve purchased any Sabra Hummus recently!
The FDA issued a press release yesterday that the company announced that some containers could possibly be contaminated with listeria, which can cause foodborne bacterial illness. Consuming food contaminated with this bacteria can cause symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria can also cause stillbirth and miscarriages in pregnant women. Hospitalization may be needed in many cases.
This is a voluntary recall, and so far no illness has been reported. However, it’s always better to be safe than sorry! If you’ve purchased Sabra Hummus recently, check the top of the package for the SKU’s and use by dates listed below:
