I’ve been to local vintage shops in the past and I came across some amazing and unique prom dresses that were absolutely gorgeous. Also, these dresses with a lot cheaper than the dresses you would typically find at a department store. Also, you have to imagine how cool it would be to shop up at prom with an 80’s style prom dress or even a 50’s style prom dress. I guarantee you that heads will turn!

Ask Family Members if They Have a Prom Dress Collecting Dust in the Closet

Now is the perfect time to start raiding some closets, because you might be able to find a beautiful prom dress that has been collecting dust over the years. If you or your mom has a prom dress, you could let your daughter use that for a dress if she wants to wear something vintage. If not, you could ask your sisters if their older daughters have a prom dress they’re not using. If you find a dress that doesn’t fit your daughter, you could have some adjustments made to it. Adjustments are cheaper than buying a whole new dress.

Ask Friends

Do you have friends that may be able to score a prom dress for your daughter? They may have older daughters that aren’t using their prom dress for anything. Also, you may want to ask your daughter if she has any college-aged friends that may have a prom dress she could use.

Shop at Discount Stores

If your daughter definitely wants a new prom dress, you could always consider going to some discount stores. Places like Forever 21 and JCPenney have excellent deals on prom dresses that you can take advantage of.

Sew Your Own Prom Dress

This one may not sound appealing to everyone, but it can be done and it can be done inexpensively. If you’re a creative person, you’ll have no problems creating a beautiful prom dress.
