I know you’d much rather be gone on vacation somewhere new, exploring new places and trying new things. I get it, me too! But things have changed a bit for us in the last year and that goes for our summer plans as well. Don’t let it get you down. You can embrace a fun staycation and still create wonderful memories with new experiences! Here’s a few different ideas of ways and tips for you to be able to embrace a staycation quarantine style.
Plan your staycation
Don’t simply come up with a date for your staycation, put some planning into it. Just like you would if you were going somewhere new, plan your location, food, activities and even entertainment. Yes this means making sure you have all the supplies you need. I recommend putting it all together in a box so it’s easy to access and already pulled together (you could even throw it into one of your suitcases). Create your schedule and start saving for your staycation. If that means you want to create a fun environment in your home with some decorations or spa like bathroom accessories make sure you’ve set aside the funds for it all.
Create a Theme for your Staycation
There are so many different “themes” you could come up with for your staycation. This also goes into the planning. Once you’ve created your theme it will be easier to come up with what activities you’d like to do, food and everything else. For example: if you wanted to create a Disney theme staycation you could make sure everyone has fun Disney shirts for the weekend, plan on making some Disney inspired treats to enjoy, figure out a fun Disney movie and put together some Disney crafts. Here are some other cute/fun themes you could get ideas for:
- Camping Theme (inside or outside)
- Culinary Theme (take it around the world)
- Yoga Theme
- Kids Theme (get them involved in the things they’d like to do)
- Beach Theme
- Hiking Theme
- Movie Theme (pick just one and base your activities around it or a series)
Why Enjoy a Staycation
It’s so easy to get wrapped up in everything negative about our circumstances. I know we all want to be out exploring and playing but this can help you look at the positive. You’ll be able to enjoy the time together as a family still while having some fun. It can also save you lots of money. Depending on where you go, travel can be expensive. So a staycation is a great way to save money. Plus you’re not having to pack and unpack, wait in long lines, deal with the airport and so much more. Give it a try. Create a fun staycation idea and enjoy the things that will make your family happy!
